Napoleonic bayonets

I am just starting to paint up some of the Napoleonic infantry, I have had them for some time but am just starting to get into 6mm Napoleonics.  The figures seem pretty good but the bayonets seem a bit oversized and more importantly quite fragile, prone to bending and some of them have already broken off.  Therefore I am thinking of simply removing them for consistency of look.  Does anyone else do this?  I am thinking of the marching figures only, advancing voltigeurs are a differnt matter.

Hello KeithS!

Yes the older Napoleonic figures were prone to bayonets breaking off. I just remove them as they break off. However, some of the units that have seen a lot of action have lost a lot of them. So one day I just might remove them all on those units, but I'm not in a hurry to do it as they still look okay. It sort of gives them some character.

Best regards,

Glenn
