A Halloween update

I am typing this on October 31st and wracking what passes for my brain to find a suitably spooky metaphor, simile, motif or simple allusion for Halloween, but all I could come up was this week’s magic order number standing at #35221.

We had a little IT issue at the start of last week’s Fiasco show in Leeds which resulted in one short-tempered and harassed purveyor of 6mm figures and an inability to process card payments for the first hour of the show. I would like to thank all those customers who put up this and commend your patience. As with all these things, the solution was simple, just like the person trying to find said solution…

It's Show Time!

Here in the UK, we are right in the thick of the Autumn show season which is keeping us busy handling orders, restocks and customer queries as well as working on new projects. In all of this the one constant is the weekly Magic Order Number, which this week stands at #35201.

This week at Baccus

Greetings all you 6mm gamers and welcome to a short Baccus weekly update. As is sort of traditional we start with this week’s magic order number which stands at #35156.

We are right in the middle of the UK wargames show Autumn season which is fairly brutal. We attend four shows in an eight week period and as you might imagine this schedule is keeping us a wee bit busy.

As I mentioned last time, we are working on a new project which is also taking a good chunk of our attention, and I hope to let you have more details by the middle of next month.

In the meantime, please do get those collect orders to us in good time. Fiasco is just a week away as I type this, and Warfare just two weeks after that, and these events are on us before you realise it.

Twas the day before Partizan...

I am typing this the day before Partizan, so any exhortations for you to get collect orders at the show are more than a little redundant, so thanks to all of you who have done so, and I will see the rest of you tomorrow on the usual lottery of our eccentric stock system.

EU U-Turn and a Mission

We usually start these things with an order number update, but this week will be different, as I need to make an announcement.

Following our update on EU orders a couple of weeks ago, we have been monitoring events closely. From what we can tell in discussions with EU customers, other traders and our carriers, it would seem that the new regulations are not currently being acted upon. One of the main drivers seems to be the uproar from EU-based small enterprises who found themselves bound by the same regulations, thus effectively ceasing free movement of goods within the EU. How long this will last, and what, if anything will be done for micro-businesses remains anyone’s guess, but, for the time being we will resume sale to EU countries.

JOS26 - Gone, but not forgotten...

Hi all, yes, we have been quiet for a couple of weeks, preparing for JOS, running JOS and then recovering from preparing for JOS and running JOS.  Many, many thanks to everyone concerned, but more of that later.  Firstly, the return of the magic order number, which currently stands at #34766.  As ever, there will be a few orders prior to this that didn’t make the cut and other after that did.  Apparantly, there are valid causes for this, communicated to me by  memo from the Head casting goblin, describeded as 'teknikal raisins'...

It's That Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

As I type this, it's just a few hours to go before a very hectic couple of days as the Joy of Six weekend kicks in.   The final floor layout  is going to be a little different to the one previously posted as since that was completed we have had three games and one trader drop out and an extra game brought in.    All credit must go to Lindy for vary calmly and efficiently handling all this and sorting out the new floor plan.

Baccus have a number of new releases coming out at the show, but for those of you who can’t make it to Sunny Sheffield they are all available for online purchase through our website.

Coming to Joy of Six 2026...

With one week to go the Joy of Six 2026, here at Baccus HQ are just a wee bit busy.  As well as organising the show itself, we’ve also got to go through the usual business of getting the Baccus trade stand ready for a big show and on top of all that we are preparing for the release of various new codes and ranges.   But, before that a magic number, #34675, and a bit of an explanation.

New for JOS26

Two weeks to go the biggest date in the 6mm wargames world and we are gearing up to our busiest weekend of the year.  But first, the inevitable order number, currently standing at #34622.

As organisers of the show, we have one or two little jobs to over the Joy of Six weekend, but we also have to wear our Baccus hats, and we always aim to get something new to release at the show.   This year will be no exception, and we’ll be previewing these over the next couple of weeks.

Lindy has finally finished the floor layout for JOS26, presented here for your delight and delectation.  She actually thought that it had been completed last week until she found out that I’d underestimated the size of two of the trader’s stands and got three games tables down with the wrong dimensions.  Suffice it to say that I was not Mr Popular when she found out.
